James Young
About
I'm a computer professional from Madison, WI. I played the trumpet when I was younger, and my son played the cello for a year. When he quit it broke my heart. It's my favorite instrument. I could never imagine a life without music or the arts and it is a universal language the whole world shares.
I'm supporting my absolute favorite Cellist, Tina Guo because I want people to experience her amazing and unique craft as I have these past few months. I came to know of her work because I'm a big fan of Hans Zimmer - I think he's a genius and his passion and work move me deeply. I was watching a performance of "Time" from the Inception soundtrack recently and I noticed a young cellist playing with intensity and passion which made me curious. So I tried to find out who it was and I was met with an explosion of amazing work. I hope I'm not sappy or squishy about this but you can feel her music. Lots of musicians can play an instrument, but passion and emotion are what make performances which are experienced and memorable. She is such an artist. She can bring you to tears and absolutely SHRED it the next. Sometimes, in the same piece. :) Her electric cello work is amazing too, and I have to say I've never heard a cello sound like an electric guitar! Awesome.
I had no idea if I would ever see her in concert She cares about her work. She works very hard and delivers it so well. I doubt she ever just plays and "phones it in." I was fortunate enough to find out that she would be playing in my hometown so I went to see her. I was not disappointed. She and the band she was with took time to sign autographs She's
Please support her. Please find work that moves, inspires and changes you and support it. It means something and is very important. Thank you for reading this, and thank you Tina! :)
