Anyway, here's some behind the scenes info about the chapter and what is going on in the story. I'll keep it as spoiler free as possible but it may be a good idea to read the story first anyway, then add to the discussion in comments. First off was re-reading the story to get back into the proper mindset. I also listened to the DoH1 dramatic reading. You'll notice a throwback in the story to that first chapter that started it all. There are a few themes I want to explore and the pacing is the part I have to be careful with. Clearly Dawn is repressing some things, and like with anyone who bottles things up, it will end up coming back to bite her. But aside from her own issues, Dawn hasn't yet admitted that Soarin's actions didn't just affect her. As with any victim of assault the family and friends can be just as affected, albeit in different ways. The most common is blaming themselves, usually if they were with them at the bar or club before the event. They wonder "what if I'd stayed at the club longer... what if I'd spoken up when that guy seemed a bit odd..." So Dawn will explore that side a little bit and through understanding how everypony has been affected, will come to better terms with how it is affecting her. And as those themes wrap up, Soarin's hearing will happen. I'm saving all my "Dan Vs." jokes for that chapter as I've been watching a lot of it lately. And here's a little tease for you: Doctor Stable. He's still trying to figure out what happened to Dawn. It's a puzzle, you see, and aside from his addiction to horse tranquilizers, Doctor Stable lives for solving puzzles. He may also start walking with a cane and abusing fellowship students. As for what this has to do with Dawn, well, you'll have to wait and see. Sufficeth to say it will pay homage to the first fic I ever wrote a spin-off of.
