Andrew Leeder Ah yeah I see, I hope they recognise that it may be dud and help you out. Sounds like you are approaching the issue in a logical way : ). I have really enjoyed purchasing from songbird as they are really keen to ensure that you are happy with your purchase (ocarina or accessory). I'll be very interested to know how the takashi double goes in comparison, because I think a double is the next step for me in a few months and I would like to get a quality one. (or at least to purchase from a reliable seller) Happy days!

Naryoril I just received my Takashis, and i have to admit, i'm in love with them. They are definitely worth the wait and the price. I like that he added a tuning hole on the single chamber and the first chamber of the double ocarina as well, it gives the low notes more stability and you don't need such an extreme breath cut.

Naryoril I fiddled around a bit with the focalink again to compare it to the Takashi. I guess the ocarina is okay and it's just me doing something wrong. Because sometimes the E comes out perfectly, and then i try again doing the exactly same thing (at least it feels that way) and it doesn't work at all. I think it is the ergonomics, most importantly that split hole on the ring finger. At least for me that doesn't fit at all and i need to cramp my finger to cover it correctly. In addition to that the area where the holes for the right hand are is completely flat on the ensemble focalink, while the Takashi is curved inwards a little bit, and that feels much better for me. And the rows of holes are much further apart on the focalink which makes switching the chamber with the right hand much more difficult. I feel ,mpst pf these issues would resolve themselves if i'd get used to the ocarina, but with the Takashi they don't even occur. And it might be the other way around for someone else.

Andrew Leeder Ah! Happy to hear that you are enjoying the takashi ocarinas, I will definitely consider them for my next purchase! sounds like it does take a while to get used to the focalink ensemble double. Personally I think I'll spend a bit extra to get one that I know has good feedback! I really appreciate your help Naryoril, and I have enjoyed this conversation a lot so far! : )

Naryoril Just keep in mind that the Takashi can take a while to arrive, since they are only made after you order them. I have read from 2 weeks to several months, mine took about 6 weeks, but they were definitely worth the wait.
