Hi, welcome to The Botline's patreon page! We're a Twitter account (@botlinethe) with one goal in mind: identify and report bots. The amount of bots, artificial profiles run by a computer program, has skyrocketed in the last year. While some bots are harmless (and thus not considered targets of The Botline), others are used to attack users based on keywords, agressively retweet fringe groups, or attempt to scam Twitter users. Individual reports by individual accounts rarely catch Twitter's attention, and bots often remain active after several reports. However, Twitter pays far more attention to accounts with multiple reports filed against them. Thus the idea behind The Botline: our followers find Twitter bots, and tweet their names to us. We then investigate the profile, make sure it's indeed a bot, and tweet it to the rest of our followers. If everyone following The Botline reports these accounts, they have a much higher chance of being taken down by Twitter, thus making Twitter a much more enjoyable place!

However, getting our message out to enough people to make a sizable dent in the bot population will be difficult. The purpose of this page is to raise money for Twitter ad campaigns. This will help spread our message to a larger audience, who will give us the names of more bots, and help us remove those bots from Twitter. Even a small contribution will go a long way to making Twitter a safer, more enjoyable, and less caustic environment for it's users. The Botline would like to thank you for your time and (hopefully) your contribution!

$5 of $50 per month
When we reach this level of funding, we'll immediately begin work on a website dedicated to collecting and disseminating information on how to find bots, what to do when you find them, and how to get rid of them. This website will also serve to provide a platform for those botfighters wishing to share tips and meathods of botfighting with the rest of the world. This  centeral place for their thoughts to be collected and viewed is a more perminant and navagable environment than a simple Twitter feed.
