Kirby Krackle - (Another) Stupid Summer Song - Patreon Single July 2015

I'm a HUGE fan of bubble-gum summer sugary pop-music. Ever since I was a little kid I loved those summer songs that won't leave your head. It wasn't a matter of if they were "good" or not, but just feeling like summer in audio form was enough for me. As I've gotten older I've become more aware of how summer hits are crafted from secret-lair songwriting bases in Sweden designed to access that primordial urge to open up our sunroof and sing Natalie Imbruglia's "Torn" while speeding down I-5. I'd invite you to picture me doing that, but be warned it's not pretty...


I've been listening to a lot of summer pop-radio lately, and every time I do that I end up going back through my New Order albums. Something about the two always puts me back to when I was 9-13 and really starting to discover how music made me feel, and I think during that time I really fused in my head what I think sounded cool and made me feel good to listen to. My guess would be that a lot of you can look back at that time in your life and feel the same. Formative years sacred times...


"(Another) Stupid Summer Song" is love letter to the jams and stylings of what I feel summer sounds like on pop-radio with some reminiscing of what I loved about summer as a kid; riding my bike with my friends sipping on Cherry Coke Slurpees, staying inside as long as I could playing video games with the shades drawn before I was made to go outside, hanging out at Breezy's Comics in North Seattle the summer Image took over and X-Men #1 debuted, chasing the popsicle truck and trying to act cool (miserably) when the cute girl moved in next door.

Kirby Krackle - Weathermaker - August 2015 Single

This is one of my favorite songs written during the "Super Powered Love" sessions that never made it on the album. I had done a demo during that time, but it was never officially recorded and released until now. The song features one of the few times I've ever experimented with alternate tunings, and this one features the DADGAD tuning found often in Irish folks songs. Something I'd like to do more of...
