Swept away on a path that, ten years ago, I could not have named, called to my vocation as an awenydd by a god of Annwn, there is no way back. There is no way forward but to follow the Awen deeper into the myths of the British isles and into the depths of the land where Thisworld meets Otherworld to bring back stories to help us live with integrity in these times of environmental and political crisis.

I can’t think, write, journey, or dream deeply when I’m working within the system. Savings and the generosity of my parents providing a room and food have made it possible for me to put all my time and energy into publishing articles, poems, and stories on my blog, ‘Signposts in the Mist’, and to write three books: Enchanting the Shadowlands, The Broken Cauldron, and Gatherer of Souls. My savings are running out and I don’t have any regular outcome. That’s why I’m asking for your support.

$110/£80 a month would make it possible for me to continue devoting all my time and energy to researching how our ancient British myths relate to our current crises and to create new stories with the guidance of the gods and spirits. My work seeks to balance mysticism and devotion with environmental and political awareness and create a form of Brythonic Polytheism that is valid for the twenty-first century.

Another strand of my work is exploring Annwn, ‘the Deep’, the Brythonic Otherworld. This is the land of the dead and the place where dead worlds sink from history into myth. From it flows the Awen, the divine inspiration of awenyddion and bards. Wisdom from Annwn can guide us through life, providing mythic meaning as an alternative to the meta-narrative of capitalism, and prepare us for death. The only literature we possess about Annwn was penned in the medieval period by Christians. Thus I believe it’s important for its cartography to be recorded from a modern polytheistic perspective. I am hoping my academic and experiential research on this topic, under the working title ‘Porth Annwn’, ‘Door of the Otherworld’, will provide me with the material for my fourth book.

Will you help me to create new myths and explore Annwn by supporting my journey?

*Awenydd: ‘person inspired’, Annwn: ‘the Deep’, awen: ‘poetic inspiration’.
