Frequently Asked Questions

When do you send out rewards?

I try to send rewards bundles during the first week of every month, to allow time for pledges to successfully process. Sometimes I may wait until later in the month, to fit in an additional painting or two.

In rare cases I will combine two months worth of content into a single bundle, as was the case with March and April 2015.

What if I didn’t receive rewards this month?

If you didn’t receive the most recent rewards bundle, it’s possibly due to one of the following:

1. Your pledge was placed too late. To receive the July Rewards, for example, your pledge must be active through July 31st.

2. Your payment was declined. Many Patreon artists are having inconsistencies with PayPal at the moment. Changing payment methods may solve this issue.

3. Rewards were sent before your pledge was processed. If your payment was declined or still pending, I may have missed you when sending out rewards. Just let me know if this was the case and I’ll send them to you immediately!

Can I still obtain rewards from past months that I missed?

Yes! All monthly Patreon rewards are available on my Gumroad as individual purchases. They are priced a bit higher, to be fair to my supporters during those months.

If I’m currently a patron, do I get a discount when buying past bundles?

Yes! Just send me a message and I’ll give you the discount codes.

Where are the rewards for January, May, and June?

For these months I was either resting, inactive, or experiencing difficulties, and didn’t produce enough finished art to release as a bundle. I consider these my “down” months and am exploring ways to possibly make up for them.

Can I get a refund for months without rewards?

Yes. Just let me know and I will refund your pledge for the down months. Please note this puts me in a tight spot financially, but I want to be fair to my supporters. The honor system should go both ways!

Will you be doing tutorials in the future?

Yes! I plan to record more of my process and offer written descriptions when time allows it.

Why did the number of patrons and monthly pledge total drop recently?

Every few months I will remove patrons whose pledges have been declined multiple times, and that loss of inactive funding is reflected in the pledge total.

AlphaPizza Does a successful pledge on a "down" month qualify a patron for the subsequent bundle? For instance, if one was charged for May 2015, but then stop his pledge for June & July, will he still receive the May+June+July bundle? Well in my case I've pledged for all 3 months this time, and I won't ask for a refund, but in the future I might temporarily redirect my pledge to other patreon during these extended "down months", but I wouldn't want to miss the actual bundle when it comes out.

tsuaii It only qualifies for months you've been an active patron and have given money. So if you supported during May and removed your pledge during June and July, you would only receive the May rewards, even if June and July also happened to be down months. This is basically my way of thanking people who still supported me during difficult times.

Patron Hi, I'm one of them who started to pledge in May and till today (3x times) I didn't received any rewards. So thanks for clarifying all these questions in FAQ and about the refunding, I don't want it back because I don't want to make you any worries, but as others said before, it would be really nice from you if you could send me some older stuff too due to the "down" months May+June... :-) Thanks and have a nice day! :-)

Hey everyone!

I was in Las Vegas last week for the EVO international fighting game tournament, so I apologize for this newsletter being later than expected. I don't really talk about it much, but I do play a bit of competitive Super Smash Bros. Melee on the side, and experiencing EVO has been a goal of mine for a few years now. It helped me take my mind off things for a while...and more importantly, I ate some amazing food there!

Anyway, as many of my patrons probably know, I've been in kind of a slump these last couple of months.

I ran into some walls trying to come up with something creative and fun for Lightning (and the bonus Sona pin-up), and since I often tunnel-vision on one painting at a time, everything essentially slowed down to a crawl. Almost non-stop traveling and conventions didn't make it any easier, either. So right now I'm trying to regain some of that lost momentum.

My personal philosophy with Patreon has always been to improve my art with the opportunities your support has afforded me — not make it worse! I feel it would be in bad taste to blaze through my painting process just to get pieces over with, with quality taking a massive hit and the art lacking a special touch. That's something I've really been trying to avoid.

As such, these past couple of months have really showcased the immense impact your support has made on my life. Before Patreon, when I had these kinds of artistic ruts, I would do some crazy things — take on way too much work to make ends meet, lower my quality standards for said work, or sometimes just lock myself in my room.

But this time, I was able to take a deep breath and just keep chipping away. I could explore different approaches or even start over with better ideas. I took breaks and analyzed my progress with a fresh perspective. In the end, instead of getting desperate, I was able to maintain my touch and come up with something I'm proud of, with more yet to come.

That's what it's all about, guys. Your support gives more than just financial stability — it gives me time, which is the most precious resource of all. Time to learn, time to improve, and time to do good work. Thanks for being so patient with me.

REWARDS UPDATES

In regards to rewards, I plan for July's bundle to be sent sometime during the first week of August. It will have the Lightning pin-up (clothed, full nude, and a few variations) and the bonus Sona pin-up (which is mostly nude). I apologize for the bundle being so light this time, and I promise I'll find a way to make up for it.

Like January, which was a down/resting month, there won't be rewards bundles for May or June. Again, I'm thinking of creative ways to make up for lost ground during those months.

MILESTONES ADJUSTED

As I've been reaching new funding milestones much quicker than expected, I've made a few changes to spread them out a bit, allowing me to spend more time on each one without falling too far behind.

I've completely removed the Alternate Mini-Series, since it seemed somewhat redundant, and moved the Summertime Scene a little later. The Art Book has been moved to the last milestone spot, which makes more sense.

I just know the Swimsuit Mini-Series is going to be a huge hit, so I wanted to give it as much room to develop as possible.

And the Secret Series (aka NSFW Series) is still at $5000 per month, so don't worry about that one!

UPCOMING MINI-SERIES

To wrap up the Pin-Up Mini-Series, I will be finishing the final two entries simultaneously. The winner for blue/green hair is Lucina from Fire Emblem, and for black/white hair it's Ciri from The Witcher! To keep things interesting, though, I do have some plans for the runner-ups...

We also started voting for the Choose-Your-Mini-Series recently, with Red from Transistor receiving the most votes! This will be a much shorter series than the pin-ups, but voting will have a different format, and hopefully it's a lot of fun for my $10+ patrons!

CROSSOVER SCENE

Another milestone we hit recently was the Crossover Scene! I'm still planning how patron interaction will work, but I'm leaning towards $10+ patrons collectively voting for things like the theme and details, while each $50+ patron picks a character to include.

I haven't been showing my Creative Advisors enough love lately, so that could be a way to get you guys uniquely involved.

FAQ

I'm in the process of compiling a list of Frequently Asked Questions explaining how my Patreon runs, so that should be posted sometime soon. It's mostly information the majority of my seasoned supporters are likely already familiar with, but I did include a few topics not often covered (such as refunds), so if you're having any issues it might be worth a read.

Ciaran Meehan I can't lie, it is a little disappointing to hear that there won't be any May/June rewards since I actually started pledging in May, some unfortunate timing on my part there, but it is good to hear that you plan to make up for that and seeing the WIPs for Lightning and Sona gave me more than enough faith to stay on since even in their WIP stages they were great. I actually went ahead and bought the pack with Samus in it on Gumroad and everything in there is brilliant and the seeing that Ciri is going to be a future pin-up and will be painted in your style, which I adore, definitely makes me glad to stick with you. So yeah, glad to hear that you're coming out of your slump, believe me, I can sympathise with that and I am greatly anticipating future works, especially Ciri, all about that Ciri.

Hey everyone! May rewards will be a bit later this month, and a little on the light side, but I do plan on having them (and not another bi-monthly bundle), so that's something to look forward to! Also, I will be sending messages to patrons whose pledges have declined this month and see what we can do to fix the issue. I know there have been some hiccups with payment via PayPal for pages in the NSFW category (like mine is), so changing pay options may be needed. Rewards don't get sent to supporters with declined pledges, so it's worth the effort to get these things straightened out!

Kaelin Chariakin Thank you so much for the rewards! It was well worth the wait :) Really love Lux II Adjusted. Her hair is awesome and her "new" face is indeed better than before. She's my new phone wallpaper! I paid attention to all the details and I'm impressed by how conscientious and meticoulous your drawings are. Glad to support you! Having a look on the different steps of your work was very interesting too. I don't know why, but I find Lara's bra closer to a real one in step 7, the final one looks more like a swimsuit. Or is it actually a swimsuit? Not essential though, she is gorgeous anyway :D As a fan of Resident Evil, I can only love your sketch of Claire. Perhaps you will draw one day more than a sketch of her or another of character of the serie? I would love to see that :) Anyway, keep up the great work! Congratulations from France! dantatachan I really hope to see more on your AO technique. I thought leona was made it that way when i saw the previous posts on patreon until I saw the PSD. I'm a bit lost when you color directly instead of AO. I also bought longtime ago your cgcookie tutorial, but it was really fast. Hey everyone! Hey everyone! I feel like April was a pretty eventful month, to say the least! I certainly tried my best to make up for a relatively quiet March. As it stands now, I'm planning on releasing a combined March + April rewards bundle on Friday, May 8th, which will include the following works and their accompanying content (depending on the tier): Pin-Up Mini-Series · Lara Croft + Nude Alternate · Leona · (Secret) Sketches · Eloise · Quistis Trepe · Claire Redfield · (Secret) · (Secret) Looking forward to May—since we recently hit the $2k milestone, I'll be starting the next mini-series sometime this month! And the pin-ups will have two more entries after pink/red, so I'll be wrapping that up as well. There will also be a few upcoming commissions that, while not officially part of the Fan Art Series, are in the same familiar territory and will even have alternates! And, of course, I am still taking my time with Popstar Ahri. Lots to look forward to! As always, I'm super open to feedback and suggestions, or just stopping by to say hello!
