About

I'm a filmmaker and mechanical artist from germany, working on an entirely handcrafted Steampunk-Stopmotion movie! The german title of the movie will be "Das Getriebe im Sand", which translates to something like "The gears in the sand". The whole movie will be translated to english when finished.

I'm documenting the whole journey online, publicly available for everyone! Check out my website and social-media pages to see the things I created so far:

The movie tells a unique story of heartless humans and feeling robots, living together in an apocalyptic world. Everything you will see on screen is handcrafted. I'm developing the story and characters, building the puppets, props and sets, animating the scenes frame by frame and composing them into final movie shots. The length of the shortfilm will be about 28 minutes, currently I'm working on minute 16.
But the project is very work-intensive and I'm trying to deliver the best I can, so it takes a long time until the movie will be completely finished. Additionally, I need many tools, materials and space to keep this project running, and I mostly have to pay everything myself. As many people are following that project already, I decided to create this patreon page to offer anyone the opportunity to support me.

My long term goal will be to keep creating mechanical miniatures of any kind and maybe keep building other fascinating stopmotion worlds! I don't know how everything will turn out after finishing this first big piece, but as I really want to continue doing work like this for a living, I'm really dedicated to producing the best results and practicing the craftsmanship I use as much as I can. I will keep you informed on any progress! ;)
