I HATE REWARDS LEVEL 1
$1
per month
I dislike the idea of rewards because I would rather people pledge what they feel called to give vs what they get out of it.

So most of these "levels" will be the same "rewards" basically.

When you support me for $1, $5 or $10/mo, you get access to all my Patron-only post, preview of newsletter/blog posts, questions & preliminary ideas on projects & a personal email of thanks.

Every support counts!

About

Welcome to my Patreon!

I'm VinaJoy (Duran) Barham. Duran is my mother's maiden name and I am part of the Pilipinx diaspora from the Ilocos region.

I'm an unschooling mama, writer and a guide.  I share a lot of words on Facebook and some glimpses of my life on Instagram.

I have a wide variety of projects I hope to work on, including writing a memoir and a children's book with Pilipinx-American children as main characters. I also dream of gathering Pilipinx families and re-connect with our culture + ancestral ways.

But the thread that weaves all my work is about moving towards our most authentic life. What does it mean to live our truest selves? What do we need to heal and let go of? How do we support that healing? How do we prioritize lives who face the most systemic barriers in living their most authentic life?

I'm still sorting it all out.

But mostly, I feel drawn to talk about parenting, healing and liberation.

Parenting + Unschooling:
I am here for dismantling beliefs we have about parenting (and education) as well as the systems that keep us from raising our children in freedom. That for me expresses itself in identifying the ways I have internalized oppressive beliefs as a parent in partnership with my children as well as the ways the systems marginalize caretakers and children. It requires digging deeper in my conditioning, uncovering ways that my own trauma and wounds shape my relationship with my children and intentionally carve a different path towards wholeness and liberation. Talking about parenting organically leads me to talk about my own healing journey.

Healing + Liberation:
Writing about my own healing journey is something that I feel compelled to do. Sharing is a part of my medicine. It forces me to cultivate awareness of my own life, helps me distill my observations about my healing path. It's a practice in vulnerability for me.  I also try to bring an intersectional lens to my notes on healing and am practicing looking at healing from an anti-oppression anti-colonial framework.  Which also naturally leads me to talk about liberation from these systems. What does it mean for me to get free? And to support others in getting free?

My perspectives are informed by the privileges & gifts I hold and the marginalizations I fight to end. My delivery is blunt, honest, vulnerable, irreverent. But I'm here to share all of it, the messy process and all other shit I dig from the depths as well as the dreams and visions I have for a better world.

So thank you for being here and supporting all of this. I appreciate you.

THIS IS HOW WE DO THIS WORK TOGETHER.

With Love & Solidarity,
Vina
