Monthly production schedule: FUSION CHALLENGE
An ongoing but sporadic YouTube series in which I take audience requests to combine a piece of existing video game music and a completely unrelated (and preferably inappropriate) musical genre -- for example, Contra as a grand Viennese waltz, or Silver Surfer as butt-kickin' bluegrass. I mash the two ideas together into an original arrangement that somehow works way better than anyone expected, and then post the resulting track with commentary. This will allow me to commit to a release schedule and stick to it, since each one takes about a week to prepare.
Behind-the-scenes Updates and Previews
At this point, a good chunk of my free time can be devoted to my album projects, and I will work on them while documenting and sharing preview material in an invite-only Dropbox folder. Highlights: an electro-funk house music album (Think Deadmau5 meets Parliament/Funkadelic), a symphonic/industrial post-apocalyptic "virtual girl band" (Think Gorillaz meets Muse and Nine Inch Nails) and an ENTIRE SERIES of "what if?" soundtrack EPs for game franchises that they'd never hire me for, but probably should (First up: Goemon!!!)

Hello! I'm Jake Kaufman (virt)!
I have been a fan of video game music my entire life, and -- I still can't believe this -- I was able to turn my hobby into a career. Over the past 15 years, I have been lucky enough to make music and sound effects for a huge number of games, from Game Boy Color to PS4. My recent soundtracks include Shovel Knight, DuckTales ReMastered, and Double Dragon Neon. I strive to bring silly happiness into the world, and make people shake their butts. I do this by giving everything away for free, and encouraging people to do their own creative stuff with it.I like to bring crazy ideas to life, rapidly, with love and attention to detail. I've been burning the candle at both ends for many years, doing a ridiculous number of side projects while working full-time in the industry. But I always want to do larger, more ambitious things, requiring more time and resources.
Stuff like this:
I could have done this track myself and recorded with Tommy in a closet... but we wouldn't have had a pro recording studio, a world-class drummer, and an incredible engineer working on it. OCRemix came through with their Kickstarter funding, and a little bit of fan support made all the difference.
If you believe in my creative drive and dedication, you can directly help wrench open the fire hydrant of insanity, and see things come to life that might otherwise sit on the back burner forever.

Yo. Don't even. You don't have to worry about me turning down a Shantae or a Shovel Knight or a Double Dragon. When games need pedantic levels of detail, over-the-top anime disco, or saxophones turned into wobble basses, I'll be there. If there aren't enough games around for me to score, I just make my own from scratch. One way or another, game soundtracks will get made.

What I'm really asking you for, though, is to help me avoid spreading myself too thin. If even a small portion of my operating costs are covered by fan sponsorship, I can treat original albums, videos, and educational projects as if they were paid commissions, and lock down schedules for their completion.
Your money will primarily go toward the same thing as Bandcamp donations have for years -- helping to offset my studio rent, keeping my gear and instruments on the cutting edge, and buying new software.
If the basics are covered, I'll be able to go beyond, and spontaneously book studio time, live vocals, session instrumentalists, and the like. If you donate enough to hire live orchestras every week, I can actually make that happen. The sky's the limit -- if you place your faith in me, I promise to keep you laughing and headbanging nonstop.
Let's be crazy together.
