About VRTK

Welcome to VRTK Patreon

VRTK is a collection of useful, reusable solutions to common problems found when building for virtual reality. VRTK aims to help productivity by speeding up the creation process from prototyping ideas to building complete solutions.

Started in 2016, VRTK has grown and grown over the years with the great support of a global, diverse community. It's great to have such a versatile toolkit for beginners and seasoned developers to utilise but having the actual nuts and bolts is only half of the solution.

The VRTK Patreon aims to raise enough funds per month to fund high quality educational content that aims to help teach beginners what VR is and the sort of problems and solutions it can bring. We aim to show how VRTK can be used from a high level to solve these problems right down to the low level where experienced developers can learn and understand how to utilise the full raw power of VRTK to save time, effort and money when they are working on their own solutions without needing to reinvent the wheel.

The plan for the VRTK Patreon is to have a complete educational curriculum with various entry point levels so complete beginners have a slow and soft entry point without needing to know anything about virtual reality, all the way down to experienced developers needing to understand the underlying systems so they can speed up their workflow and focus more on unique, creative experiences.

We want this VRTK educational curriculum to be rich in written guides and video tutorials covering all aspects of VR development utilising VRTK. This will provide a complete learning solution for anyone interested in building for VR. Best of all, the content we produce will be open source under the MIT license so it will be free for anyone to utilise however they wish.

We are committed to delivering this educational content and will strive to do as much as we can even if we don't hit the goal levels, but if we do hit the goal levels then we can achieve our targets with much more certainty.

All of our content will be open source under the MIT License and will be available at the VRTK Academy
