About

VRWorkout is a virtual reality fitness game that is aimed at humans who generally have the nagging feeling that doing exercise would be good for their health but in the end, can not pull themselves together to keep doing it for more than a week.

Sounds familiar? That's the story for probably a lot of us desktop athletes and it's why I started VRWorkout for myself.

There are a lot of VR games out there that will give you a lot more exercise than you and I might be used to, but when I started my VR journey it always felt like the possibilities are far wider than what the mainstream games were willing to do.

I started off with a "fun" way to do pushups in VR and it quickly escalated to crunches, side planks, running, jumping, and even burpees.

All wrapped up nicely in a rhythm game that provides just enough enticement to keep your exercise going without distracting from the actual physical exercise.

If you play a game for exercising you have to be careful to don't get caught up in chasing the game goals which might not align with the things you should be doing to get the right kind of exercise. That's why VRWorkout does not try to overlay too many game aspects over the movements, the biggest reward isn't shiny objects or weapons but the endorphins your body releases during intense exercise.

And don't be fooled by the "it's a game aspect". It's a workout first and a game second. You may be cursing at me - or the game algorithms - during your play sessions, but I am pretty sure you will be happy when you check your fitness tracker afterward.
