jerryb967 You've given us so much happiness... so much knowledge... so much over all these years. How could we not want to be a part of all this? The world you are trying to build is the best world. Your dream is the best dream. For another month, for another year... for however long, thank you for taking us along.

Ben Roose Nixie, I wholeheartedly agree with Jerryb on this! I've been a long time viewer of your videos, but first time commenter. I just wished to thank you for your work and I am more than happy to give a little back to you each month. Patreon seems like a great idea to build a workable career around the style of work you enjoy. I hope you are able to make it viable! On a personal note, your videos have really helped me over the years in pursuing my own interests in Linux and all things open source. I worked in the theatre world for fifteen years before embarking on a career in the computing industry. I'm now a year away from completing a Masters degree in computer networking and am president of the university Linux User Group (training our student members to gain the CompTIA Linux+ certification). After this I need to debate on pursuing a research PhD next or just jumping straight into teaching computer science and Linux somewhere! Much like with the Hak5 team, I often use you and your videos as good examples of accessible shared knowledge within the open source community. I look forward to seeing your future videos on using Linux! Do you take topic requests that I can then link into my own Linux+ lectures? Thanks again!

Glen Beestone Should i be getting emails / notifications from Patreon when you publish a new item/activity ? i'm getting nothing :-/ i missed the last video hangout session (how to get productive) this is the second one i've missed. i missed October's hangout too, due to not getting any notification. ( yes i check my spam filters regularly) The strange thing is i used to get these all the time. I also got hangout notifications appearing in my Google calendar. Now i'm only finding out about them you upload the videos to Youtube after the session. Glen.

Glen Beestone OK Ignore above ^ i think i have found the reason. i went into my Pattreon account and it said my email address was "unconfirmed" and gave me some steps to complete to acknowledge a confirmation mail sent to me, to sort this. I don't know why this would be as i already did this months ago when i first set up a Patreon account and I've been getting Patreon notification before now. But let's see if this fixes it Glen

jerryb967 Over the past year we've all seen a world struggle with itself... with so many stories of sorrow and pain... but, we've also seen the possibility of something so much better. So, here we all are... all still together... still holding on to each other and our hope for a better future... for a better world for everyone. That's who we are. That's who Nixie has helped us all become. Her warmth, joy and humor... her strength, beauty and brilliance... her compassion and her kindness have brought us all together and given us a real chance to make a positive difference in so many ways. She has shown us what each of us individually, and all of us together can accomplish... why being together is so important... what love can do... and what life can be. She has taught us, laughed with us, learned with us, reached out to and encouraged us, been there through good times and bad, never judged us... and always been a kind, concerned and understanding friend to each and every one of us. She has done this with love and compassion... and always with a smile, despite all that she has gone through in her own life. She has set the best example of what each of us can strive to be... of what the world could be if only we can all stay together and try our best to love, encourage and support each other. That's what Nixie has done for us. That's what she will always do. It only takes one person to start a revolution... to change the world. Thank you for showing us that this is still true... Happy New Year, Nixie.

jerryb967 When we come to the end a month like this... when we think about being a part of showing support for Nixie and everything that she does for us for another month... isn't it really about having to consider the alternative? What if she couldn't do this for us anymore... what if she couldn't be this wonderful, beautiful, brilliant and inspiring part of our lives... and couldn't bring us all these amazing, fun and educational things? Nixie, you are welcome... You are so very welcome in our hearts and in our minds... in our hopes and in our dreams... in every corner and moment of our lives... because you make all of these parts of us better. How can we even think of losing someone so special... someone who has given us so much and dedicated so much of her life to bringing us these wonderful moments of learning and laughing and growing and being together? Nixie has made us a family. She has brought us all together here to be a part of each other's lives... and to be a part of building something so very special for the future. How can we ever think of losing that? I think the simple answer is that we can't... we shouldn't... ever. I know I can't. Thank you, Nixie.

jerryb967 Technology is a wonderful thing... Linux is a wonderful thing... games are wonderful, amazing things... but not in and of themselves, not without what is inside each of us. Without love, without humanity, without our dreams and desires they are all just so many bits of metal and plastic... just pointless algorithms and cold, empty machines. I think that we do all of this, build all these things... play all these games and always reach for so much more because they let us bring our humanity to life... because through a game or a program or a new, amazing little piece of technology we can show what we feel, and share what we dream about and hope for. We can be more than ourselves and the best of ourselves... and share all of that with each other. I think that is what Nixie does. She shows us the best of what it means to be human and real and caring... the best of what it means to dream of being more than we are and of doing and building so much more in our lives and in our futures. And there is no one better to show us how. If humanity leads to technology... if the very best of humanity leads to the very best, the biggest, the most amazing dreams... to the very best realities that we can build for each other, we couldn't have anyone more perfect leading the way. Just by being herself she has taught us so very much about ourselves, about why we are all here, and here together... and why we dream about all this wonderful technology too. Thank you Nixie for filling our dreams with so many wonderful things that are... and so many amazing things that could be. Thank you for filling our lives with humor and hope and happiness... and our hearts with love and light.

jerryb967 What a warm feeling it is to be here... to be a part of our little group, our community. To have this place to come to... to be able to step away from everything else in the world for just a few minutes a day and share our thoughts, our hopes and dreams... our fears and doubts and fantasies with each other is something so wonderful... something so special. We are thousands of miles apart, from different countries and different cultures, and yet we are so close... and no matter what, always together here. What can we do next... next week, next month, next year? We can do anything... We can learn from each other and teach each other. We can build ideas together. We can reach out and care and show compassion. We can follow Nixie's example and spread kindness and hope... love and knowledge everywhere. Changing the world starts with building a community... and communities are built on hope and trust and cooperation... by working together for the common good and by helping everyone find love, respect and a sense of connection... by building dreams together. Community means togetherness, and that's what Nixie has built for us... and given us. Can we change the world?. We've already started. Thank you Nixie.

William Baughman I also vote to go back to the moon before going on to Mars. I believe we really do not know all that much about the moon. Between the satellites send and the Apollo program, we have not spent that much time and resources studying the moon. The moon itself, given potential resources, is a legitimate object of study on its own. Also living on the moon will give us experience in handing solar events and radiation events, which will be crucial to a successful Mars mission. I vote to keep the plants on the set as opposed to models and the other stuff. wba1
