This is the tip-jar. If you have a nagging sense of guilt at all the great stuff you're hearing for free -- or if you're Canadian like us and just feel guilty anyway -- here's an easy way to alleviate it.
Get access to expanded show notes, with Phil and JF's tips on how to explore show topics more deeply, along with correspondence, unpublished new writing, and thoughts about what we're reading/watching/listening to right now.
The Weird resists any settled explanation or frame of reference. It is the bulging file labeled “other/miscellaneous” in our mental filing cabinet, full of supernatural entities, magical synchronicities, and occult rites. But it also appears when a work of art breaks in on our habits of perception and ordinary things become uncanny.
On occasion, guests join us in our conversations. In our first year, we were visited by Erik Davis, Joshua Ramey, Michael Garfield, Lionel Snell, Stuart Davis, and Jeffrey Kripal, and we are looking forward to hearing more voices from the worlds of art, academia, the occult, and anywhere else people are content to abide in strangeness.
Weird Studies is independent, ad-free, and would like to stay that way. Researching, recording and editing each episode requires a great deal of work, but it's the one kind of work we don't procrastinate on. It's an art project, it's an intellectual mission, it's a spiritual trip, it's what we love doing the most, and we want to keep doing it for as long as we still have something to say.
So we hope that you'll jump on board with us, join us on our travels, and help us get to wherever it is we're going. Depending on their selected tier, subscribers will have exclusive access to:
- Expanded show notes,
- Lists of what Phil and JF are currently reading, watching or listening to,
- Unpublished pieces of writing,
- Bonus segments for each and every episode, and given enough support,
- Special content available only to Patreon supporters.
We are deeply grateful to all our supporters — the casual fans, the hardcores that listen to all our shows twice, the folks who found a show we did about their favorite writer and are starting to work their way back through our archive. Above all, we're grateful to those of you who write to us and let us know what you're thinking. We hope our Patreon project will give us new ways to get to know you, and that you'll stick around with us for a while.
