About

Hello and welcome to Western Isles Weather on Patreon.

Western Isles Weather began in 2012 and for the last 8 years has provided forecast content for the Western Isles across our social media platforms and blog. During that time we have covered several extreme weather events and have given weather talks to local community groups and schools.

We are looking to expand further and this is why we need your support. We have several ideas and projects that we are hoping to get off the ground, both long and short term. But to curb any fears, the forecast content will stay the same across our social media platforms and blog. We will still provide the same daily forecasts and extreme weather coverage.

I Richard Cooke owner of Western Isles have been interested in the weather all my life as far back as I can remember. I have a huge passion for weather and love writing and talking about it. I love to share my passion with others and help provide an accurate weather forecast for the Western Isles. I have been to the USA five times and seen 26 tornadoes. I have experienced 113 mph winds and thunderstorms as well as deep snow in various parts of the UK.

We have set up the following tier support system to help us achieve the goals and projects that we have in mind:

  • There are three payment tiers to choose from, each with its own unique benefits and additional content, and will be charged monthly. These are: Tier 1: £1, Tier 2: £5, and Tier 3: £10 a month respectively.
  • You can change which tier you would like to support at any time.
  • You can also increase or decrease the amount you wish to pay.
  • And can cancel at any time.

So the short term plans are to cover the running costs of the Western Isles Weather blog which includes the URL and the blog hosting platform.

The medium and long term plans are to expand our educational outreach. In the past, we have been limited in reaching some areas to give weather talks due to location and expenses involved. Long term support would enable us to do this. Another extremely long term goal would be to set up a network of weather stations across the islands to give us an even more detailed picture of the weather conditions across the islands.

We are enormously grateful to anyone who uses Western Isles Weather and if you are able to support us through Patreon we will be forever humbled.

We will endeavour to keep you updated on the process of any projects.

Thank you for reading this.
