Founded in 2010, WhyDev started as a blog and has since become a bona fide non-profit supporting humanitarian and development practitioners around the world.
Since 2010, WhyDev has published almost 700 blog posts, piloted a peer support program for aid workers, partnered with Monash University to design and deliver a mentor matching program - which from 2017 will feature as a permanent postgraduate course unit - and built a global community of practice.
WhyDev is a registered Australian non-profit committed to getting international development right. We're small but we punch above our weight. We believe in independent, self-critical and evidence-based approaches to creating a fairer and most equitable world. We strive for collaboration, participation and giving voice to those who don't have one.
Our blog will always remain a place for lively and thought-provoking debate, where development practitioners, students and professionals are invited to leave their superhero capes at the door and come inside for the kind of conversation happening at the forefront of the humanitarian and international development sector.
But WhyDev is no longer just a blog. We're managing domestic and international education projects and there's plans for many more. We've got some big dreams for where we want WhyDev to go and we hope that you - our global community who want the world we want - will go there with us.
