Gender inequality is a big issue present within the film industry. Not just in Australia or America, but around the world. Since I started this blog back in 2016 a lot has happened in terms of spreading the awareness of this issue, but more can be done in the way of resolving it.

The Women’s Direction is a blog focused on getting the support needed for women film directors to bridge the gender gap within the industry. Posts vary from reviews and recommendations of female directed films, providing more information about the issue and what you can do to help, as well as showcasing the work of some up and coming female directors who need your support.

I have been running this blog in the background of my life for around 3 years now, and whilst I've watched a steady increase in the amount of visitors to my website, I feel as though I haven't be able to give it the attention I believe it needs to really push the boundaries and make the kind of difference I want it to make.

WHAT I WILL USE THE MONEY FOR
Unfortunately like most people I need to eat and pay bills, so to be able to dedicate myself fully to making high quality content for this blog I need a little bit of support, and I'm hoping to find that here.

GOALS
  • I want to post consistently at a minimum of once a week
  • Be able to attend screenings & events relevant to women in the film industry and report back
  • Move into making video content
  • Provide a platform for people to share their work with the world

The blog will always be free to read, and honestly just knowing that people are taking an interest is more than I would've ever thought could happen, but support at even just $1 a month will go a long way in helping to make The Women's Direction self sustaining and world changing.

With your support of The Women’s Direction we can Get Chicks Making Flicks!
Tiers
Runner
$1 or more per month

Like a Runner your pledge will be doing the groundwork for this blog. But unlike a runner you will be highly appreciated and gain access to The Women's Direction exclusive Facebook group where you can meet like-minded individuals, start discussions, find your next film crew, whatever you wish!

Production Assistant
$3 or more per month

You're a runner but with a fancier job title and you can now chose which department you wish to work for. You also might give a bit more which earns you that title. Thanks for thinking this blog is worth a little bit more :)

Producer
$5 or more per month

Depending on the type of producer you either provide funds or answers to tricky questions but the fact of the matter is nothing would most likely get done without you so you'll get a Thank You mention on the blog site and on our twitter and Facebook the first time you pledge. Plus You'll have first dibs on our video content when it comes out.

1st Assistant Director
$10 or more per month

The set would honestly fall apart without an AD and with the support, care, attention to detail, and sometimes reeling in, that you provide it makes sure that the highest quality product is achieved. So if you are joining this tier we thank-you so much for believing in our work enough to give this kind of support. It means a lot.

Director
$25 or more per month

The director makes the decisions, has the vision, and is respected by their peers. This tier gives the opportunity to work with me on the blog. You can email a suggested topic or film to review, or collaborate on a post with me on a topic we both agree on. Only one of any kind of collaboration per patron per month.

Goals
$0 of $500 per month
When I make $500 a month I will start to create a video channel. The videos will include more relaxed discussions on some of the bigger issues surrounding the gender inequality in the industry as well as being entertaining and with further development, interactive.
