Woodbine started five years ago as an experimental hub for a community to grow out of and around; a collective space for getting organized amid capitalism and catastrophe. With everything new and present, we are starting again. In the undeniable truths of today and with all that we inherit from our time in Ridgewood, and before. We are called through a nexus of apocalyptic catastrophe and revolutionary potential. We need community more than ever and we need spaces like this to gain strength and flourish - spaces for trust and action. We want a sense of community where skills and passions are magnetic forces that pull people together. The sense of community this space generates will better position us in the current conditions and the struggles to come.

Since 2011, we’ve been experimenting with building autonomy and putting our means in common. We’ve been combining our capacities, resources, and skills, and incubating projects that follow these lines. We’ve launched discussion series, a health resource center, film projects, a creative agency, technologist groups, and preparedness events. We’ve collectively rented spaces to get organized, to get fit, gain access to our own physical and mental health, and to develop our strategic thought.

Woodbine is one of the many spaces we are shepherding into the fray. We live in New York, it’s not easy and it’s not cheap, but as our network grows we need to be able to increase the scale of our endeavors. Our monthly costs for the collective are roughly $2000, which we have split between ourselves for years. In addition, any additional project costs such as building the Health Resource Center, Woodbine Community Gym, the Ridgewood Community Garden, text, and videos among many others have always been internally supported. As we look to expand in the growing chaos, we need your support. We have plans to expand to upstate NY, open up an autonomous health center, a community maker's space, and release more text and videos. We aspire to build regional autonomy, combining farmers and engineers, preppers and designers, hundreds of acres of farmland in the Hudson Valley, and a thousand joys. But, we can't do these things without your help.

Thank you for your support in bringing these visions to life. Donations of any amount, from $5 to $100 or more per month will be immensely appreciated. As our campaign grows, we will offer more perks, ways to join this community, gear, tools and other experiences to supporters.

In the gathering darkness
let us give shape to a new life.
For freedom.
For the earth.
For each other.
