ME

I grew up in Flanders fields close to the North Sea and graduated from Ghent University, Belgium in 1997 as Civil Engineer and Architect. During my professional career, I focused on wood construction, exploring both artistic (architectural) value and scientific (engineering) capacities of this versatile material created by nature.

Life is full of surprises, so since 2003 I live and work in Italy, combining Flemish craftsmanship and rigor with Italian flamboyance and passion. Let's say that I hope history repeats itself, since this combination resulted prosperous in history.

On a late night in spring 2015, inspired by a Belgian Trappist* beer, I founded ilFiammingo, a platform to experiment with digital media and to share my experience with the online community. The main result of this is the Wood No Limits website.

*Trappist beer is brewed by Trappist breweries and sold as Authentic Trappist Product. By Flemish tradition, all successful decisions are made in company of a Trappist beer.

WOOD

A huge Jump into the Future!

It seems wood is up to a revival. The oldest of all materials has been reinvented in the last few decades, taking a huge jump into the future. And that future is promising. Wood from sustainably managed forests is a valid alternative to other more energy consuming materials.

However, it goes further than that, forest development and wood production is currently the only big scale solution for carbon absorption and storage. Encouraging the use of wood means actively countering climate change.

No Limits!

The recent evolution in wood technology opened the way to a whole range of new applications that were unthinkable until just a few years ago. High-rise wood structures for example or glass made out of transparent wood are no science fiction!

 The PROJECT

Keep up with Wood!

The mission of Wood No Limits
is to bring all sorts of information on wood, focussed on new technologies, while keeping it as simple as possible.

The entire lifecycle of wood and all possible application fields are covered. Therefore, if you are interested in forestry, architecture and design, engineering and science, arts and crafts, regulation and certification, the environment or any other wood-related argument, you are in the right place.

Have fun!

YOU!

Thank YOU!

Thank YOU for visiting my Patreon Page! This is the most important thing you can do to support my goal. The more people are interested in my work, the more I am committed to further develop this project.

Unfortunately, that's not the only thing needed to keep going a website. Financial help means I can invest more time on the website, instead of doing my regular job to keep things going in my family. I guess you all understand what I'm talking about.

So if YOU love WOOD and like my PROJECT, support ME by donating a small amount for every article (of at least 500 words) that I write and publish on the Wood No Limits website. Usually I write no more than 2 of 3 articles of that length a month. Anything from $1 up is hugely helpful to the cause. No worries, you can fix a maximum amount per month and you can stop or change your donation any time you want. Check out the rewards when choosing the amount of your donation.

Rome wasn't built in one day. So, big projects and even bigger dreams are realised just one brick at a time. I have a notebook full of ambitious ideas, but let's start from the basics… What about paying the bills for hosting, books and some basic equipment?
