Computing Stuff and Free Wallpaper!
Computers may be getting faster, but they also seem to be getting slower. This may seem like a contradiction, and I don't pretend to understand it myself, but all I know is I can't play Plants vs Zombies/Angry Birds Star Wars/[insert trending game of the moment] whilst listening to music and monitoring two email accounts, Facebook and Twitter like I used to (seriously, though, things are getting bad). Achieving this level of support will go towards the ongoing cost of maintaining and improving my computer setup (RAM, up-to-date software, etc), and thus allow me to use Photoshop without crashing it. As a thank-you, all patrons will receive a custom-made wallpaper for their desktop/laptop/mobile/device.
Monthly Nietzsche!
On reaching this level of support, I will be able to set aside time from my normal work to ensure that my comic strip, "Nietzsche in the 21st Century", appears every month. Probably. (No, seriously, it will.)
Technicolour Nietzsche!
If we get here, then all current and past strips from "Nietzsche in the 21st Century" will appear IN COLOUR!
Bi-Monthly Nietzsche!
Nietzsche will now appear TWICE A MONTH! Or else, once every two months, depending on what 'bi-monthly' actually means... (OK, OK, twice a month it is.)
Edible Hats!
If we ever get here, I'll eat my hat! It will be a chocolate hat, or possibly meringue, but by God I'll eat it! I'm not quite sure what to promise if we get here - let's see how things stand when/if it happens...
About
My name is Gareth Southwell - part illustrator, part writer and part philosopher - think weird mythological creature, like a griffin, but less employable. I've written various books about philosophy, and run PhilosophyOnline.co.uk, but my main purpose here on Patreon is to support my illustration and comics (you can see my work on my illustration website).

My name is Gareth Southwell. I'm a professional illustrator, would-be graphic novelist, philosopher and published writer. I do a lot of caricature, portraiture and illustration, often based on people and subjects from history, literature and philosophy (please check out my portfolio to see more of my work). I'm currently working on a number of projects that I hope Patreon will help me develop. First, however, a quick word about Patreon.Patreon is a
bit like Kickstarter, but instead of supporting individual projects, you
support creators. In my case, if enough lovely, generous people make small gestures of support (which can be as little as $1/£0.60 PER MONTH), I will be freed up from mundane, bill-paying work to develop a range of personal projects and collaborations that I'll be able to share freely with everyone. The arrangement is flexible - you can cancel or alter your pledge at any time - and each level of support entitles patrons to exclusive rewards (these are listed at the bottom of this page). Pledges are monthly, but you can make a one-off pledge of support (if you want), by simply cancelling or amending after one month. And as it can all be done through Paypal, it's all safe (if you're worried about that sort of thing).

My main aim here is to develop my comic strip, graphic novel and non-commercial illustration work, and patrons at certain levels will get access to these and other projects, including (but not limited to):
There will undoubtedly be new projects and developments as time goes by - I'm still relatively new to Patreon, and so really just getting going with all of this. So, if you have any questions, want more information before you decide

- Access to sketches, scripts, works in process, etc.

- Free artwork, prints, etc.
- Insider news on all my ongoing projects
- Early access to professional illustration work as it develops
- The opportunity to comment on and discuss work with me

There will undoubtedly be new projects and developments as time goes by - I'm still relatively new to Patreon, and so really just getting going with all of this. So, if you have any questions, want more information before you decide whether or not to pledge support, or perhaps have suggestions for rewards not listed below, then please contact me through Twitter, Facebook, or my website.
