About

Woolpack Music Studios, in the centre of the market town of Otley in Yorkshire, UK, is run by Richard Sabey and Jen Pugh, and is very much focused on using music as a vehicle for building community coherence and collaboration, as well as enhancing personal well-being. We run all sorts of events and workshops for people of all ages, including community ensembles like the Otley Ukulele Orchestra, Otley Rock Orchestra, Woolpack Music Social Club, Woolpack Studios Choir and Roundhay Ukulele Group. Over the years we have worked with numerous young people, facilitating their musical development, which inevitably involves raising self-esteem and social skills. The same goes for our work with older, vulnerable people, who have commented that our music projects have helped to address social isolation or rebuild confidence after bereavement. We also offer recording studio facilities and band rehearsal space.

WOOLPACK STUDIOS CORONAVIRUS UPDATE- 19th July 2020

Having considered carefully the current Government guidelines, we have decided that we are unable to operate our community ensembles, rehearsal studios and young people’s projects safely within the guidelines. This is mainly due to the size and layout of our premises, as well as the problems and uncertainties around singing, loud music, and playing certain instruments.

Our view is that this is likely to be case until the end of the Summer.

We will continue to live stream five interactive music sessions weekly, as well as other occasional online events and courses.

Much as we miss all of our groups and having the Woolpack Studios full of people, music and laughter, we feel that this is the only way forward for now.

HOW YOU CAN SUPPORT US

We are grateful for all the donations we have received since lockdown began - we would not have survived thus far without them. By becoming a Patron, you will help us get through this period and continue as a community arts resource beyond these social restrictions.

We are planning on providing content for Patrons in the near future - at the moment all we can offer is our online sessions!
If you are not already on our mailing list, and would like to be, please let us know.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
