Welcome --- I'm delighted you've found this portal to the Strangest Space! I'm Wayne Llywelyn, an experimental artist who lives and creates in Roanoke, Virginia. After scouring the streets, back alleys, and parking lots wherever I am, looking through trash piles and construction waste, I create planets, stars, and unearthly music with whatever the world provides. Yard sales, flea markets and thrift stores supply my tools and materials --- paint, adhesives, dirt, sand, rocks, spherical shapes, fabric, nail polish, candles, crayons, as well as objects that make noise.

The Llywelyn Expedition (FERALCATSCAN) with Khate

Why do you do this?
I create worlds from trash to inspire others to look at our own world differently: to learn all we can about it, and, more importantly, to care about it. Our activities as a species have poisoned this world with trash and chemical pollutants. Our need to consume has devastated ecosystems and altered climate patterns. I promote recycling, re-purposing, and otherwise reusing objects and materials that are considered trash.

Why "The Strangest Space"?
In the process of crafting a new planet, I envision what it would be like if it existed in this universe. What would its core, its surface, its atmosphere be like? What sort of flora and fauna (if any) live there? What manner of intelligent life may have sprung up, and what kind of culture do they have based on their biome?

These are but some of the themes I'll be exploring in an exhibit opening November 2018 at the Aurora Gallery here in Roanoke. In addition to a vast visual exhibit of imagined worlds set against illuminated star-filled backdrops, it will showcase performances from various worlds. Costuming and body art will transform dancers into alien ambassadors as live music from extraterrestrial inspiration plays. Visitors will be taken on a journey through The Strangest Space!

What will my Patreon donation directly support?
I'm seeking funding to help offset the rent of studio and storage space, to fairly pay collaborating artists for time and materials, and help build the infrastructure for the installation at the Aurora Gallery in November 2018.
