Wyld Fire came to be via a strange set of coincidences.
I was working as an outdoor instructor up in the remote village of Kielder, my contract was finishing and a workshop and house were up for rent. I decided to jump in and set up a traditional skills and bush-craft school. It wasn't long before I realised I actually enjoyed making things more than anything else, so the bush-craft school closed and I focused all my energy on producing traditional craft goods and learning old skills.
I've since re-located the workshop and our house, to somewhere a bit less midge-infested and have diversified into prop-making and costume production as well.
I still love every second of time in the workshop and I'm happy as ever to be practising these wonderful traditional crafts, but I've also realised that I now have the ability to pass on these skills to new people, sharing my experiences and knowledge and hopefully, in some small way, ensuring these skills, traditions and crafts continue!
