Wyvr is creating a web serial

Hi there! You've found the Patreon page for Tin Soldier, a web serial published in weekly installments. My ultimate goal is attention, lots of it. Enough money to kill the WordPress ads would be a plus, as would literally any money. Readers first, though.

Installments are being illustrated, though I haven't caught up to the un-illustrated backlog yet.

The setting is post-Victorian punk, in the run up to the equivalent of World War I in universe. Magic is real and blends seemlessly with technology and people. Gods are also real, there are a lot of them, and they meddle in the affairs of men. Marsellia is a small country with delusions of Empirehood which recently lost its independence in a prolonged war with a much larger country. The characters we're concerned with are living in a broken down house in a slum area of the capitol, with a lot of magic-users and other marginalized people. I'm trying to follow the Fawlty Towers model of sitcom casts, where everyone is messed up in their own way, and when you put then together you get fractal weirdness. We've got a kid with a metal eye who talks to gods, a depressed violinist, a guy with crippling social anxiety who turns into a completely different person when he puts on a dress, a lady who fixes people with metal, an ex-General who turns into a giant eagle, her daughter who turns into a magpie, a retired state augur who's losing his mind, and a sailor whose main function is to show up and get plot summaries regularly. Recently, we have added an artist with a new baby. There are some pretty dramatic mood shifts, with the first plot point being a small child almost dying - but he gets better. And later he hooks up with his two friends and they drive a car through a farmer's market at fifteen miles per hour on the sidewalk. Mood whiplash is a given.

More info is on the site, which has a New Readers page with  basic info and character quick references and an About page with more on the setting. I've done some work on a wiki with character information, but that might be moving elsewhere. If I can figure out how to HTML some spoiler tags for myself, I'll put the in-depth character stuff on WordPress, and I might put the side items like detailed information about magic and related things here, if there's any interest.

I don't have a lot of people showing up weekly for updates at the moment (new installments are posted Sundays). Irrespective of Patreon goals, if I get more attention, I will do more stuff, because I would be getting attention for it. This is a human thing. So, if I do pick up readers, expect more wiki stuff and more frequent summary updates and a better quality of experience.
Tiers
I Like It
$2 or more per month

Hey, I like this serial!

I Love It
$5 or more per month

Wow, I love this serial!

I Want Some More of It
$10 or more per month

I love it so much, I want to get installments and bonus content as they're written! (Even though this means they will be out of order and with continuity errors and non-canonical until I post them. In a monthly package of +/- 4 installments, depending on production, because Patreon will only remind me to do this once a month.)

Goals
1 of 5 patrons
5 Patrons at any tier and I will buy the ad-free WordPress package, whether I'll break even or not.
