About Xocliw

WELCOME

Hello there, I'm Joel, also known as Xocliw (pronounced Zock-lee), and welcome to my Patreon! I'm a content creator, originally from the UK, who has been living in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, for over 5 years now.

For my entire life, nothing has brought me more satisfaction than entertaining people. For a long time, I did this through music which was playing and singing in numerous bands and venues. Gaming has always been a big part of my life also, and when I started making cinematic videos for Space Engineers on my YouTube channel in 2014, I had no idea it would get me to the stage I'm at now.

After joining Keen Software House in 2015, I found I was unable to dedicate time to making videos for my own channel as I was busy creating content for the studio. Some time passed, and I began to realize that I missed having my own community, somewhere I could have total creative freedom in the content I produced. Spontaneously in January 2016, once a dev stream had finished, I decided to do an after party stream on my Twitch channel. Once again, I had no idea at that point what was going to become of the decision... Around 6 months later, after some real grinding, I became a Twitch Partner. Of course, this was just the beginning!

These days, while the channel is still mostly focused on Space Sim & Sci-Fi Gaming, I have been branching out into other areas on Twitch. The main one being IRL (in-real-life) after building a Gunrun streaming backpack powered by a LiveU Solo in June 2018. Through streaming, I have also been able to do some music again from time to time. This is a positive surprise outcome of this journey as it used to be something I did every day in some form. I'm hoping to increase musical content on my channel in the years to come.

After a 5 year hibernation period of my personal YouTube, I finally recruited some help and relaunched it in January 2021, starting with a return to Space Engineers videos. The journey up to this point was largely unexpected but it seemed I had come full circle! Shortly after this relaunch, I began hosting PvP multiplayer spaceship tournaments again for the 2021 season which proved to be extremely popular. A new admin team was assembled, a website created, and StarCore was born! These battles are utilizing the powerful WeaponCore framework which adds new combat mechanics to SE and improves performance significantly.

I also continued to do more IRL streams each year and in September 2020, I announced a new commitment to that area of content: Project Buster. This is an empty 2016 Volkswagen T6 Transporter van that I bought with the hope of converting it into a proper camper in the future to enable roadtrips and exploration across Europe and maybe even beyond! Who knows exactly what will happen on these adventures and what we'll get up to, but I want to share all of it with the world. Due to COVID-19, I haven't been able to do many IRL streams since getting the van but that should change soon as restrictions begin to ease later this year.

For the future, as well as sustaining the existing content that has brought the majority of current viewers to the channel, I want to continue to push the limits of what is possible to livestream. This includes finding new places to visit and activities that I’ve never done before that will amaze both myself and my community.

YOU can help make my dreams become reality!
