About Xolo Books

Xolo Books is an online bookstore based in the Washington D.C., metropolitan area.

Xolo Books’ mission is to amplify intersectional and anti-colonialist stories written by Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) through the selling, promotion, and celebration of books from around the world. Xolo Books guides and teaches its customers about decolonizing their reading habits and ultimately support BIPOC authors and stories. Xolo Books’ namesake is the Xoloitzcuintli, an Aztec dog breed that survived Spanish colonizers’ attempts to eradicate the breed because it represented a non-Christian deity. The Xolo represents survival and prosperity in a world that forces conformity and white supremacy.
