I'm Ashley, aka the Youngest Old Cat Lady!
Here is how it all started: After losing my dad to suicide unexpectedly in 2015, I didn't want to leave the house. I had just started as a dog-walker at PAWS ( An animal shelter in Lynnwood, WA) and the staff asked how they could help me during this difficult time. "Give me something small and fluffy!", I replied. Who knew that that was the beginning to all of this. Since that day, kittens have saved me as much as I have saved them.
Patreon is to support myself and the kittens. No, foster parents are NOT paid! And honestly, since leaving my full time job, I work way more hours and am usually way more tired than when I worked full time at a company. What you are choosing to contribute to is the work I put into creating a community of animal lovers, entertainment and teaching others. I have worked tirelessly to learn how to save the most vulnerable kittens, and by working part time from home (with this supplemental income) I am able to say YES when asked to take in severely ill kittens. I am able to say yes to emergency vet visits at 2 AM, caring for the amount of kittens I do during "kitten season", the time spent trapping feral cats (and the process of getting them spayed/neutered and fixed up), and caring for these animals until they are healthy and old enough to be adopted.
I like to think I am an open person, sharing with people my struggles with Depression, Anxiety and life in general. Helping these kittens has helped me find a path in life where I feel needed and like I have found my passion and reason for being here. I feel honored that there are people who want to join this journey with me and be a part of the joy these animals bring to all of us through the ups and downs of fostering.
I hope you join my journey to a happier life filled with purpose.
