About
Hello everyone.
With regret we are sad to announce that we will be closing the project (Our Place) this month.
We've tried for a long time and honestly overcome many of the difficulties and challenges of working as a professional team to produce the comic. We've created a lot and learned a lot from each other and from a team partnership that will be invaluable for other projects.
But, in regards to Our Place, we see that the project requires a lot of development and has not had the level of interest amongst our readers we'd projected for at the start. Of course, in many ways, and this is our fault – working around individual timetables, finding a new 3D specialist and so on. All that had caused repeated delays in updating and we are sorry for the delays bringing the comic to you!
But, even without the delays, it is clear that the project will take another year or so to build the support from the community we need for the team's income to match our commitments and the amount of work we've been putting into the project, and that's not something we can afford right now financially. We have made the difficult decision to concentrate our efforts on other projects that are less dependent on a large team. This should help us greatly accelerate production there and focus on completing one project at a time. It is possible (though at this point unlikely) that we may continue with Our Place depending on the success of our other projects (though this is a huge maybe).
For now, as a parting apology we will be returning the money to all the sponsors, who have supported our project during the July period and will be closing our patreon account before the end of August so no further money should be charged. We ask that, for the next two weeks, you do not discontinue your support of our patreon site so that we have your name on file to crossreference re-payment. After then we will close our books and you will be free to discontinue sponsorship to ensure no one is accidentally charged for August.
Also, as a parting gift, we will share with you the final updates that have been in production the last month (with a few more pages or sketches to follow as we close down business on the project).
The Our Place team thank you all so much for your support: you are the reason projects like this can last as long as they do and you have given us so much confidence and experience to continue with projects like this in the future.
