- I discovered a lot of amazing artists from your publications and I want to support the production of original content, learn together, and support the sustainability of independent publishing.

- I understand the amount of love and work poured into Zone's publications and I empathise with the sleepless nights!

- I find myself in the manifesto and understand what Zone is trying to do and want to be a part of the effort!

- I would like to have access to Zone's extended  "Kitan Club" selection and many other curated visual stories to come! Kitan Club (1946-1975) is perhaps the most well known SM magazine in Japan. It's pages introduced fans to iconic SM artists like Reiko Kita, Chimuo Nureki, Oniroku Dan, Shoji Oki, Tadao Chigusa, Takashi Tsujimura and many others. It was also influential to many modern kinbakushi.

- Online one on one sessions with Zone Magazine’s founder / editor, typically around two hours a month. If you are an emerging / mid-career artist working around the photographic medium we could go through a particular ongoing work of yours or discuss; an idea for a future project, the process & destination of your projects, finding the right publisher / self publishing, submitting your work to online art platforms etc. If you are editing / curating an online / printed magazine, visual art platform etc. we could discuss; publishing other people’s work, managing social media accounts, creating and managing a website (what we have learned), making a photobook / artbook / zine etc. & publishing it, finding the right people to collaborate with or anything else that you would like to consult.

About ZONE

My name is Ali Beşikçi, I'm a young photographer and I spend most of my time doing research and editorial work related to photography and visual culture. I carry all my work by myself, except a limited amount of valuable external collaboration. I would appreciate the opportunity and any of your support towards the continuation of my efforts to keep the independent publication alive and far from the “beautiful”, “shareable”, and “shiny” type of artistic perspective towards publications.

If you find yourself in the project and want to be a part of the effort, if you can imagine the amount of love and time poured into Zone's publications & side projects and empathize with the sleepless nights and want to help us dream of sustainability, future events and physical projects like workshops, talks, exhibitions, book markets, festivals and much more, now there are different ways in which you could support us!

Started in the summer of 2018 as a personal research project from an urge to discover and spread new photographic work, within a year, Zone Magazine has grown into not only a contemporary photography magazine but a world-wide community of photographers, artists, and photography-enthusiasts alike. As it continues to grow, the aim of Zone Magazine is to cultivate a variety of dialogues between artists, artists and their audience, as well as supporting them with printed and online publications.

Zone is looking for works; that transcend their original statement, that give birth to different meanings, that have multiple exits or, on the contrary, end up being “cul-de-sac”s, that create worlds in which the audience can walk about, that are slow to expose themselves, that require deep reflection, with an idea behind, that inspire the audience to become “participants” instead of just “spectators”, that use what’s real and still create their own reality, that don’t try hard to make themselves pretty, that don’t need to “fake it” to get attention, that accepts that photography is a language, with each work containing its own alphabet and dictionary, that are aware that an idea can be presented in more ways than one, that knows that it’s possible for a work to be “unfinished”, that are sceptical about themselves!

We have published two books until now; our first issue Z-ONEand our second book The Halcyon Days [A Dialogue Between] Isabella Nitto & Luca Baioni. We are currently working on a lot of exciting works on paper and online with some incredible people and are always hungry for more!

Archival Zone is a collective curatorial space that aims to bring together and highlight the works of various visual researchers, artists and curators who work with images, sounds, videos etc. they “grab” from the world. We’re open to people who search for themselves in other people’s works, who dive in them and give them other reasons and spaces to exist, people who get involved with archival material, who merge archival material with their own work.
