About Andrew Luke

Subscribers-Only Site Index

It can take years to see a new book or tv show through development and longer yet to for the returns of publication in sales. With Patreon you can help me cut through that. It works like this: I'll make comics, poems and prose for subscribers before they're available publicly. Receive fresh content every two weeks and be entered into limited edition prize competitions. Choose the tier(s) you can afford and make proposals for content. You'll also get immediate access to::

  • The draft version of my novel about Trebitsch Lincoln; The Watch Thief
  • Archived prose, poems, flash and videos
  • Commentaries for all my authored work.
  • A PDF of 'We Shall Not Be Stapled' comics anthology, and two 24 hour comics, exclusives!
  • A PDF of John Robbins' tour de force 'Unlucky Unlikely' graphic novel
As a patron you'll be doing your bit toward helping me achieve a critical mass of readers.

In 1997 I began working on my first underground comic, under the imprint Luke Books. Over time this would grow to fifty booklets. I wrote about comics for TRS2 and the late Bugpowder website, and contributed to Silver Bullet Comics, Tripwire Magazine, Comics Village and Altern8. Between 2005-2008 I helped organise the Caption Comics Festival in Oxford, as well as took part in Camden Market-dealing rebels, London Underground Comics.
In my native Belfast I won a 2011 UnLtd Award to mass distribute Absence: a comic about epilepsy,. Magnificently drawn by Stephen Downey it's the most read comicbook in N.Ireland. The same year I co-produced The Invisible Artist, a history of Belfast's cartoonists for Northern Visions TV. Paddy Brown and myself managed the monthly Black Panel market to give greater exposure to Irish cartoonists, and I was a founding member of Irish Comics News. In 2014, I contributed to the huge anthology, To End All Wars, which was nominated for two Eisners as Best Graphic Novel and Best Reality Based Work. I've been invited to teach and pontificate at events across Ireland and the UK and a lot of them supply very nice biscuits.
I wanted to write novels and my first came in 2016. Axel America and the U.S. Election Race asked, 'what is life like living with the man who sees conspiracies everywhere?' This 'sitcomspiracy' focuses on the unholy trinity of Alex Jones, Donald Trump and Rupert Murdoch against the backgrounds of the EU Referendum, and run for the White House. 'Spide' followed in 2018: two hoods, a three thousand year old conspiracy, four church thugs and a cross-border rail trip through the pages of the Old Testament and Irish mythology
