About The Big Insane Happy

Who are you?
My name is Jonathan Burrello. I make comics. I am the creator of Secret KeysBlinky & SalBarb, and guardian of The Big Insane Happy. Pleased to meet you.

What have you done? What are you doing now?
I have been drawing comics just for myself since as far back as I can remember. Since 2013 I have been making Blinky and Sal comics. It was sort of a therapeutic project for me. Had a lot of the things I like. Oddness. Existential dread. A touch of sacrilege.

Most of the Blinky and Sal comics can be found in the printed collections Straight from the Pit of HellToddspeed and Propaganda. If demand is there and I can get my stuff together, I will put together a few more collections.

Currently I am working on Barb. It's a sort of a sword-and-sorcery adventure comic inspired by the artwork of Frank Frazetta, the writings of Edgar Rice Burroughs, the monsters of Ray Harryhausen and, of course, movies and TV shows like Conan the Barbarian and Xena: Warrior Princess.

Making comics can be very time consuming and every little bit of encouragement helps. If you like what I do and want to show your appreciation, become a patron or buy some of my books. It means a lot. Any pledges push me to maintain steady output of high quality new content and expand production and, hopefully, result in even more ambitious projects in the future. I am going to make it all happen!

What of the future?
I want to build Barb's world into something fun that comic fans will really enjoy and eventually produce a print collection. The pipe dream would be to make it into an animated series one day. But that's getting ahead of myself. For right now, I just want to make this webcomic the best it can be.

Additionally, I have a lot of standalone stories I want to make happen.

Thank you again from the bottom of my little heart

$600 is the goal. This will allow me to reduce my work hours so I can write and illustrate more projects that are bigger and better.
I would also like to create a professional website.
Blinky & Sal and Barb are only the beginning. I have so many more stories to tell. There are tomes within me. Waiting to escape.
