About Bristol Shipwrights

Hi. I'm Ken Boyle. Thanks for visiting the Bristol Shipwrights' Patreon page. It's all about building the 43' Alden schooner, Evelyn, and why I need your help to get the job done.

For a long time, Evelyn was a part-time effort. Recently, it became clear if I didn't make a full-time commitment, she might never see the water. That's too sad to even contemplate. Plus, how do you look people in the eye when they ask, "How much longer will it take?"

That's a question that demands an answer and one of the main reasons for this Patreon page.

When I went full-time, a good friend, Lou Sauzedde, brought up shooting videos again. For years, I've avoided making them as I knew how much time and effort it took to shoot, edit and promote them.

But from the beginning, I knew I wanted to build a unique, new boat that was the culmination of Lou's fifty years of shipwright experience. Using traditional woodworking skills. Experimenting with new materials and tools. And inventing better ways to build stronger, longer-lasting boats. Those are all things worth documenting and sharing.

Please visit our website at www.bristolshipwrights.com

So we're shooting and posting videos that preserve tradition and capture innovative shipwrighting and woodworking skills. And I'm getting Evelyn on a faster track to completion. But I can't do that without help from people who enjoy watching the work or learning something about how to build their own dream.

"How long will it take then?" I still can't say for sure. But one thing is certain, it will be much, much sooner with your kind support.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and please check back on this page. Visit bristolshipwrights.com. And follow our progress on the Bristol Shipwrights YouTube channel.

Thanks in advance for all your help,
Ken
Goals
17 of 50 patrons
Right now, we're shooting for 50 Patrons. That will go a long way to help get the videos done without interrupting the work on Evelyn. It will also help Tom (our videographer) feed his equipment habit. It may even mean Rocky (our editor) can take a couple of days to go sailing. We'd also ramp up our live feeds and go from 3 videos per month to 4 per month
