About Mark Hill

There is enough kinetic energy in moving water from tidal currents and rivers to meet the world energy needs. The advantage of our design is that it accelerates the water current onto the turbine creating MORE POWER (W). The advantage of this is that as most of the world currents are in slow moving water therefore we can potentially provide power where others cannot.

In 2003, 2005 Tidal Energy Pty Ltd created two Tidal Energy turbines a (1.5 and a 2.4 m turbines), called the Davidson Hill Venturi and we achieved some very good results. However funding was not available to continue in Australia and still isn't, for start up renewable energy companies.

So in 2019 Mark Hill  started a company in Scotland and won a Engineering and Commercial Services prize from the Marine Energy Alliance (Europe) which has allowed us the further improve our designs.

The next step is to build our third prototype and take this improved design to Scotland or Mainland Europe for testing. Fortunately at this stage the testing should be free and paid for by the European Unions "protoAtlantic" marine renewable energy development scheme. However we still have to bear significant personal cost to build this turbine and transport it to Europe for testing.

Please note the first two tests cost around $60,000AUD and took two years of voluntary labour. Which was paid for by the Gold Coast City Council in Australia. You can see some of our awards on our old website but we have since started a second website for the Scottish company You can also check us out on instagram @tidal_energy_turbines.

Our designs are very unique and utilise a combination of hydrofoils to produce lift and a Venturi to produce downstream low pressure which accelerates the flow of water through our turbine.
Our initial tests show an improvement of 240- 340% with the application of the Venturi on a conventional turbine.  Hence the need to take our designs to Europe and prove ourselves to investors and grant officials over there.

Unfortunately Australia does not have the political will to support such a venture as the coal lobby is too strong. Unlike Europe which is fast moving beyond Coal.

Please note: There are grants in Australia for renewable energy, however this is for 50:50 matched funds from industry. For example, if we have $1 million the government will match this. Which sounds great but we simple don't have millions of dollars to start and we are too early in our Research and development to appear attractive to Angel investors.

Please help support us in making our incremental goals.
