About HOROI Project
Thank you for visiting my page! I am
Levente László, a classical philologist (MA) from Hungary, specialized in
the textual history of Hellenistic, Roman, and Byzantine astrology. Currently,
I am working on my PhD thesis titled “The astrological inceptions of the
emperor Zeno’s anonymous astrologer,” which I expect to complete in 2021.
You can find my academic papers here, and Chris
Brennan’s interview about my research here.
Borrowing its name from a now-lost book, Definitions, attributed to the legendary astrologer Petosiris, my HOROI Project is a continuously evolving library of Hellenistic, Roman, and Byzantine astrological texts. My aim is to produce English translations of all the extant texts on horoscopic astrology that were written in or translated to Greek, especially those previously untranslated. The Chief Advisor of HOROI Project is Chris Brennan, a leading expert of Hellenistic astrology, and the current members of the advisory board are Steven Birchfield and Dr. Martin Gansten. Click here to watch an introductory talk and to get the accompanying free material.
By becoming a patron of HOROI Project, you will enable me to devote my time to working on the translations. Patrons receive the first versions of the translations freshly from my desk and can also access the growing library of the constantly revised, footnoted, and commented texts.
Thank you for your support!
