Thank you! You're supporting me to write more SFF criticism, essays, and reviews—work that definitely would not exist with your help! You'll also get exclusive access to some Patreon-only work. You're very welcome to pledge a higher amount if you want and are able to, but small pledges are wonderful and very much appreciated.

About Vajra Chandrasekera

Hi, thanks for coming over! I’m a writer from Colombo, Sri Lanka. I've published over fifty short stories and my first novel is coming out in 2023. I'm also a fiction editor at the award-winning magazine Strange Horizons. What I mostly write (and read quite a lot of) is speculative fiction in its broadest possible interpretation: sf, fantasy, horror, the weird, as well as stuff that's not always considered speculative but has something of that flavour or sensibility.

But in addition to reading it and writing it, I also want to write more about those works, genres, ideas, and histories, and that's the work I've made this Patreon for.

What I do here: reviews about books I'm reading and essays about (mostly) the various oddities, methods, and mysteries of the speculative fiction genre, with some overlap with politics, religion, and Sri Lanka. Some sample essays:

I’d love to write more essay and reviews like this, and I hope Patreon will give me a way to create the space for that work. I will write and publish new work as often as I can, and some of this material will exclusive for patrons only.

You should pledge to my Patreon if you enjoy any of my work and would like to read more of it, and/or want to support me in general. Help me put more creative work into the world—fiction and nonfiction both! You’d be helping me reclaim some of the time and energy that goes instead to the non-creative work (these days, mostly nonfiction freelance editing gigs) that pays my rent and bills. I would like to get to the point where I'm doing more of this than that.

Small pledges are very welcome! I live in the third world and my currency is in freefall lolsob so this is one of those rare situations where the exchange rate works in my favour.

Thank you for reading, and for your support!
